Film Is Included. And Here's Exactly What That Means.

Medium Format Film - Sequoia National park Elopement

This post is for the couple who already knows they want film — and wants to understand exactly how it works before they book. I'm going to be completely transparent with you, because I think you deserve that. Haven't seen my pricing yet? Start there first. Come back when you're ready.

It's Already in Your Package

Every package includes film. No upgrade required, no add-on fee. From the moment you book:

  • 1 roll of 35mm film — up to 36 frames

  • 1 roll of 120 medium format film — up to 16 frames, shot on my Fuji GA645

Those numbers are not a typo. And they're worth talking about.

Let's Be Honest About What Film Is — And Isn't

A 120mm medium format roll gives me a maximum of 16 frames. A 35mm roll gives me 36. Combined, we're working with up to 52 film frames across your entire day — and not every single frame is guaranteed to be delivered.

That's the nature of analog. Light leaks happen. A frame might not expose the way it should. Film is a physical, chemical process, and sometimes it surprises you — in both directions. The ones that work? They're extraordinary. But I will never promise you 52 perfect frames, because no honest film photographer can.

I shoot with both film and mirrorless cameras — they work together, not against each other. My mirrorless captures the full flow of your day; my film camera captures the moments worth slowing down for. A high image count is absolutely possible, but it's never my promise. My promise is highlights — real, intentional, beautifully made images from throughout your day. Not every frame I take gets delivered, and I won't pretend otherwise. What you receive is a curated gallery of the moments.

What I can promise you: every single film frame I take is intentional. Considered. Worth the shutter click.

Film Requires a Different Kind of Day

Shooting film changes the pace of your day — and honestly, I think it changes it for the better.

A film day is slow. Unhurried. We're not racing through a shot list or chasing the next setup. We're actually in the moment, letting things unfold, making photographs when something real is happening.

This is a day where you get to breathe. Where the two of you are actually present with each other, not performing for a camera. Where the timeline has room in it — intentionally.

If you're imagining a packed, back-to-back elopement day where every minute is accounted for and we move fast to hit every location — that's a valid vision, but it's probably not the right fit for film.

If you're imagining a slow morning, a ceremony that actually breathes, and a photographer who is paying close attention rather than shooting constantly — that's exactly what this is.

Who Books This Experience

The couples I work best with have a few things in common:

They've done their research. They've looked at pricing and didn't flinch — not because money is no object, but because they understand what they're investing in and they're prioritizing experience over cost-cutting. They want someone who has actually done this before, who knows how to shoot film in real conditions, who isn't figuring it out on their day.

They want their day to feel like their day — unhurried, personal, and documented honestly. They're not interested in a rushed timeline or a gallery full of posed setups.

They appreciate that film is finite. They see that as a feature, not a limitation.

Want More Film?

If the idea of one roll of each isn't enough — good instinct. I offer film add-ons in my booking guide, so you can add additional rolls of 35mm or 120 medium format to your package. More film means more frames, more variety, and even more of that analog magic in your final gallery.

Ask me about add-on options when you reach out.

The Film Stocks I Shoot

choose the stock that suits your location and the mood of your day.

Kodak Portra 400, 200 & 800 — warm, flattering, and stunning in natural light. My most-used stock for elopements and outdoor ceremonies.

Kodak Gold — punchier, more saturated, deeply nostalgic. Beautiful in desert light and golden hour.

What You'll Receive

Your final gallery includes both your professionally edited digital images and your scanned film frames — delivered together as one complete collection.

You’ll also receive 4×6 prints keepsakes of your film captures

The digital images give you coverage and consistency. The film frames give you something else entirely — the images that feel alive. The ones people frame. The ones that hold up ten, twenty, thirty years from now.
