A Florist's Photography Workshop

Where your arrangements finally look as good in a photo as they do in your hands.

Your Flowers Deserve Better Light

You spend hours building an arrangement that stops people mid-scroll — then you photograph it on your phone in a dim corner of your studio and wonder why it doesn't look the way it felt in your hands when you made it.

That's not a you problem. That's a lighting and styling problem. And it's exactly what this workshop solves.

Bloom & Lens pairs two working wedding-industry professionals: Mariela Campbell, a photographer with 15+ years behind the camera on real weddings and elopements, and The Nature of Things, a mother & daughter duo with over 15 years experience, whose styling eye shapes some of the most beautiful florals in the region. Together, we're opening up the exact techniques we use on client shoots, — how we read light, how we build a scene that photographs as good as it looks in person — and handing them to you in one seasonal afternoon.

No fluff. No stock-photo lighting diagrams you've already seen a hundred times. Just real, working techniques you can use the next time you photograph an arrangement for a client, a feed, or yourself.

This Workshop Is For You If...

  • You're a florist, floral designer, or stylist whose photos don't yet match your craftsmanship

  • You shoot on a phone, a DSLR, or a mirrorless camera — Bloom & Lens teaches all three

  • You've learned lighting through trial, error, and good luck — and you're ready for an actual teacher

  • You want a hands-on, small-group session — not a webinar, not a lecture

  • You want to walk away with images you're genuinely proud to post, print, or pitch with

  • You want to meet and make new friends in your industry.

What You'll Walk Away Knowing

  • How to read and shape natural light — and exactly what to do when there isn't enough of it

  • How to build a styled vignette that elevates an arrangement instantly

  • Two simple lighting setups: one with zero additional gear, one with a single affordable light

  • A light kit and diffuser of your very own — my gift to you, so you're not stuck waiting to put any of this into practice

  • Bouncing light and utilizing what you have.

  • How to shoot the same scene on a phone and on a camera — and what actually changes between the two, recommendations on where & how to use either final image.

  • How to edit toward a true-to-color, editorial look, instead of an over-filtered one

And here's the best part: you're not just leaving with new skills, you're leaving with the gear to use them. Every attendee goes home with their own light kit and diffuser — on me — so you can start shooting better photos the second you walk back into your studio.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a professional camera to attend?

No. Every technique is taught for both smartphones and DSLR/mirrorless cameras, so you'll leave knowing how to get great results with whatever you actually shoot with.

What should I bring?

Your own made bouquet or arrangement in that season's color palette, plus your phone and/or camera. We provide everything else — including a light kit and diffuser that's yours to keep, plus styling props and refreshments.

Do I get to keep the lighting equipment?

Yes — every attendee, in both formats, takes home their own light kit and diffuser, so you can keep using what you learned on your very next shoot.

How many people attend each session?

Just 8 florists per session. It's intentionally small so every attendee gets real hands-on coaching, not a lecture.

What's the difference between Essentials and Immersive?

Essentials is a focused 3-hour session with core lighting and two styled builds. Immersive is a 4–5 hour half-day that adds one more setup, a 1:1 coaching round, deeper editing, and a take-home workbook.

How often does it run?

Once per season for each format (Essentials & Immersive) — four times a year for each — with a brand-new vignette each time. Seats are limited to 8 attendees per format.

Where is it held?

In Riverside, CA, in partnership with The Nature of Things, who co-styles every session alongside Mariela.

Who's actually teaching this?

Mariela Campbell, a wedding and elopement photographer with 15+ years of professional experience, and the team at The Nature of Things, who bring real, hands-on floral styling expertise. This isn't generic class content — it's pulled straight from real client work.

Is there a deposit or payment plan?

Yes — secure your seat with a $100 deposit, balance due 10 days before the session. Book 30+ days out for early-bird pricing.
