We'll help you with location ideas, outfit color palettes, and timeline planning. The rest is just you two, being in it.

What is an engagement session, and do we need one?
An engagement session is a relaxed photo session for couples, usually scheduled in the months leading up to the wedding. It's not required, but it gives you a chance to get comfortable in front of your photographer, build a gallery of just-the-two-of-you images to share or display, and — when booked with Mariela Campbell Photography — earn a deduction toward your wedding package.
How much does an engagement session cost?
Pricing is based on travel distance from Riverside, CA. Local sessions (within 20 miles) start at $850. Southern California sessions (within 80 miles) start at $1,200. Central California sessions (San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, lower Monterey, Madera) start at $1,700. Northern California sessions (Marin, Napa, Sonoma, upper Monterey, San Francisco, Humboldt, Placer, El Dorado) start at $2,500.
What's included in an engagement session?
Every session includes up to two-plus hours of coverage, film and digital hybrid photography, a pre-session consultation to plan your vision and locations, full timeline and location planning, multiple nearby locations within close proximity to one another, and a digital gallery delivered with both full-resolution and web-size edited images.
How long does an engagement session take?
Sessions run up to two-plus hours. That gives enough time to settle in, move between a few nearby locations, and capture a real range of moments without feeling rushed.

How far in advance should we book our engagement session?
Booking two to three months ahead is a good rule of thumb. It gives time to plan locations, outfits, and timeline together, and helps make sure your preferred date is open — especially during peak wedding season.
