A Nojoqui Falls Elopement in Solvang, CA — Because Some Love Stories Belong in the Wild

Let's Plan Your Elopement → Contact

There's something about Solvang that makes you want to slow down. Tucked away in the Santa Ynez Valley, this little Danish village is surrounded by oak-studded canyons, wildflower meadows, and one of the most magical hidden waterfalls in all of Southern California — Nojoqui Falls.

When this couple reached out about eloping somewhere intimate, adventurous, and completely their own, Solvang was the answer. No grand ballroom, no 200-person guest list. Just the two of them, the sound of a waterfall, a picnic for two, and a whole lot of love.

This is the kind of elopement I live for.

THE MORNING — GETTING READY IN SOLVANG

The day started quietly — the way the best wedding days always do. She got into her dress piece by piece: a stunning two-piece lace and tulle set with the most dramatic off-shoulder sleeves, a nod to both bridal tradition and her own effortlessly cool style. Her hair, her earrings, her vow book. Every detail intentional.

The florals by @thenatureofthings were nothing short of wild and gorgeous — fresh, earthy, and lush with texture. A basket bouquet that looked like it had been foraged straight from the forest floor. Perfect.

Makeup by @lachellabella.glamour — editorial, moody, and absolutely flawless.

THE ADVENTURE — NOJOQUI FALLS

And then we hiked. In a wedding dress and boots.

That's the thing about elopements — they're yours. There's no timeline dictated by a venue or a caterer. You stop when you want to stop. You kiss next to a waterfall because you can. You laugh on mossy stone steps in your wedding clothes and it feels completely, perfectly normal.

Nojoqui Falls Regional Park sits just outside of Solvang and is one of the most underrated elopement locations in the Santa Barbara area. Shaded oak trails, ancient stone steps, and a 164-foot waterfall at the end. It feels like stepping into another world — and it photographs like a dream.

THE PICNIC — THE SWEETEST CELEBRATION

After the vows, we headed to the meadow for a picnic. Styled with deep forest greens, wooden  boards, copper cutlery, fresh flowers, and delicious food just for two. They toasted with cocktails in the golden afternoon light, laughed, leaned in close, and chose to watch the sunset on the Santa Barbara mountains.
